A to Z of MS Eliprodil
Eliprodil is an NMDA (glutamate) receptor antagonist, which means that it alters the transmission of messages between nerves.
In laboratory based models eliprodil has been shown to produce some degree of nerve fibre protection and promote myelin repair through increasing important signalling mechanisms between cells. Because of these findings, eliprodil has been investigated for Parkinson's disease and there have been very early trials in MS.
