Charles and Kay Walker's Open Day
Charles and Kay Walker opened their garden in June 2010 as part of our 'My Garden for MS' campaign.
Kay said "We decided to open our garden to relatives, friends, and friends of friends. We asked for a donation which included afternoon tea (sandwiches, cakes and scones) and a free tombola ticket. We encouraged guests to buy more tombola tickets and visit the cake and candy and book stalls.
"Tables were set outside (thankfully the rain waited until almost the end) and we found that the afternoon turned into a really social occasion. 82 guests attended, which was wonderful, and we raised the amazing amount of £1,030.
"The success of the afternoon could not have been achieved without a great deal of hard work from a marvellous band of helpers, Alistair our part time gardener (who worked full time for two weeks) and the generosity and support of our guests."
Thanks a lot Alistair and thank you Charles and Kay for putting on such a great event and raising what we agree is an amazing sum.
