What is My Supper for MS?

My Supper for MS is a great opportunity to get together with friends and family for supper, whilst raising money to fund the work of the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

When should I hold My Supper for MS?

Any day you like during September, or at another time of the year if you'd prefer.

Where can I hold a supper?

At home, at someone else's home, in the garden, in a restaurant, in the park, at the community centre, anywhere you can think of!

Who should I invite?

Friends, family, colleagues, neighbours.... invite as many or as few guests as you like.

How can I raise money?

Ask guests to make a donation, perhaps suggest an amount - this can be as much or as little as you like, even as much you'd spend on a meal out with friends. If you don't feel comfortable asking for money up front, you could hold party games with fines, auctions of promises or put a collection box on the side. Whatever you feel is most appropriate.

What is Gift Aid?

The Gift Aid scheme enables us to claim back the tax on a UK taxpayer's donation from the Inland Revenue, at no extra cost to them.

How can I ensure Gift Aid can be claimed on donations?

Each invitation has a form on the back which your guest would need to complete to enable us to claim Gift Aid on their donation. They must fill in at least their full name, first line of their address and their postcode. We will not keep your guests' personal details on file unless they request further information from us. Alternatively, you can collect donations online via JustGiving.com and the Gift Aid will be collected automatically.

What do I do with the money I raise?

Use the host donation form and return it to us with the money you've raised and the completed invitations so we can claim Gift Aid. Click here for more information

What support can the MS Trust give me?

As well as all the tips you can find in this pack, our fundraising team are on hand to answer any further questions you may have. We can also provide any materials you need such as invitations, posters, balloons, collecting boxes etc.

How do I get started?

Once you've read through all the host information just pick a date and venue, decide how you want to ask guests for donations, send out your invitations and decide on a menu. Happy hosting!
