Nepal Trek - itinerary
Day 1
Depart London for Kathmandu.
Day 2
Arrive Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel for a trip briefing and dinner.
Day 3
We head back to the airport this morning to get our spectacular flight to Pokhara. On arrival we load up the buses and head for a short drive to our starting point for the trek. Before heading off we will have lunch and organise all of the equipment. The trek today will take us from Chitpani to Tibetan Camp, where will go through rice fields and small villages. Trekking time approximately 3-4 hours.
Day 4
After breakfast we trek along the valley towards Tallokot, at 1234m. We follow the Seti Nadi River through rice paddies and small villages as it slowly climbs. The sections vary from being steep and stepped whilst others outline the mountainside and gradually climb. Whilst trekking the views we experience will be of small villages perched on the hillsides and of terraced fields. After lunch we continue to our camp which tonight is Ghalegaon at an altitude of 1641m. The tough uphill climb will be made worthwhile by the views you enjoy at the top. Trekking time approximately 6-8 hours.
Day 5
After tea in our tents and breakfast we head out for a tough day which climbs higher through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests. Our path takes us to the grassy wooded knoll of Tara Top where there is a spectacular 360 degree view of most the Annapurna massif. The Himalayan foothills of central Nepal drop away from us towards the Ganges and the Indian plains. We camp here at an altitude of 2800m and enjoy the stunning clear skies and a sunset like no other. Trekking time approximately 6-8 hours.
Day 6
We wake up this morning to a stunning sunrise over the peak, illuminating the magnificent views surrounding us. We head off along a trail which follows the 2500m contour and trek through forests with overhanging mosses and lichens. We descend to the scenic Gurung village of Parju, which is set before a backdrop of snowy peaks. Camp for this evening is set at the edge of the village in a large open area at 1999m. Trekking time approximately 5-7 hours.
Day 7
Today we are heading for Lamakhet set at 870m. We start trekking with a long descent along a stepped track that drops into the valley again through terraced fields and a small village. It's definitely tough on the legs today as we descend 780m in this one descent. At the bottom of the valley we follow a path to Setigaon and then continue to descend along the Mardi Khola river where we will stop for lunch. Hopefully the weather will be clear so we can enjoy the views along the way including that of Annapurna II which is breathtaking, with its huge icefall and glacier marking the origin of the river. We continue to trek down the river valley to our camp set on the banks of the river, tonight will be our last under the stars. Trekking time approximately 7-9 hours.
Day 8
Breakfast this morning is your last at a camp as tonight you will be in a hotel bed! We have a half-day's trek that takes us to the edge of the Pokhara valley. The start is steep but this then leads us to a descent before a twisting path takes us to the bottom of the valley. After lunch we walk to our transport and then return to Pokhara where we will have our celebration meal. (dinner not included) Trekking time approximately 4 hours.
Day 9
We take the short scenic flight back to Kathmandu where you will be free to explore the city which will trigger a sensory overload - the sights, smells and sounds will etch themselves on your memory. You can visit areas such as the Durbar Square, Bodhnath and Swayambhunath and the riverside Hindu complex of Pashupatinath. Spend the evening haggling for your souvenirs in the shops and markets (lunch and dinner not included).
Day 10
We head back to the airport for our flight home..
Day 11
